DCA ends at 16
Domiciliary Care Allowance is a child payment. If Disability Allowance may be relevant from 16, it requires a separate application and has different medical, means and residence tests.
Start before the birthday
Read the current Disability Allowance process early enough to gather required information. Do not assume an existing DCA award proves adult eligibility.
Think beyond payments
For students approaching the end of school, begin adult-service, further-education and employment planning in parallel rather than waiting until the final school term.
