Autism supports in Ireland

Children: start with needs, not paperwork
For a child who needs therapy or disability support, the HSE children’s disability referral route is a key starting point. An Assessment of Need is a separate statutory process and is not required simply to access children’s disability services.
Assessment
Use the current HSE autism assessment page for age-appropriate information. Adult routing is a high-change area in 2026, so NeuroRock deliberately displays the current public HSE position rather than inferring a service from announcements.
School
Use NCSE/SENO routes for school supports, placement information, special classes, transport and transitions. The education route depends on needs and criteria, not solely on an autism label.
Community and adult support
